FILL-A-BACKPACK CAMPAIGN

The FILL-A-BACKPACK CAMPAIGN  is the signature program for Kids 4 Kids. Students and community volunteers spend two weeks each summer filling 5,000 backpacks, assembly line style, with school supplies. They then spend three weekends visiting 60 shelters serving homeless, abused, hospital homebound, and migrant children. Volunteers go in a caravan stopping at shelters and assisting the recipients in choosing their favorite new, filled backpack and new book to read. Students learned that each and every day another child becomes homeless, another child becomes abused, and another child is sick and in need of support. The students voted to make the campaign an ongoing one and to direct their efforts on a biweekly basis to serving children in need. This program is made possible largely though the generosity of many wonderful supporters. Please take a moment to click on the supporter link and find out who they are! Our Signature sponsors for the the 2002 campaign are CBS 4 Neighbors 4 Neighbors, Union Bank, and The Sun Sentinel. The 2002 Fill-A-Backpack Campaign was made extra special thanks to Farmshare who donated 5,000 bottles of Snapple and Hershey International who donated 5,000 Hershey Bars along with a cash contribution.
