In 2001, Kids 4 Kids
launched their
book
recycling program. The
program encouraged kids to donate their gently used and new books
for children who couldn't afford books of their own. They
collected 4,500 books in just two short weeks. Club members took a
trip to West Homestead Elementary and helped the 1,100 students to
choose four books to start their summer reading
libraries. In 2002, they collected 6,580 books in two weeks for the
kids at West Homestead Elementary. In the future, Kids 4 Kids dreams
of having a book bus that will travel to schools and pick up books and
deliver them to be made available to needy kids. We have the vision,
all we need is the bus!
